What is the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience Participant Database?
The Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience Participant Database holds information about individuals who have volunteered to receive information about research studies taking part at the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience. It is administered by Sam Gilbert (sam.gilbert@ucl.ac.uk).
The Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience is part of University College London (UCL). UCL is a company incorporated by Royal Charter (number RC 000631) and is the entity that determines how any why your personal data is processed. This means that UCL is the 'controller' of your personal data for the purposes of data protection law.
How do we use your data?
We understand the importance of protecting personal data. Our use of data is governed by the General Data Protection Regulations. We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. The legal basis that is being used to process your personal data will be performance of a task in the public interest.
The Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience Participant Database holds data on people who have signed up to the database. We hold the following types of information:

Email address
Preference to receive invitations for behavioural experiments, experiments investigating brain function, or both
Telephone number
Gender
Year of birth
Handedness
Highest level of education
This data is kept on a high-security server with ISO27001 information security standard. Access is strictly limited to a small number of named individuals within the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience. We use this information to contact individuals when they have given us their consent to do so, and to limit invitations to individuals who are eligible to participate in specific research studies.
Your rights
Under certain circumstances, you may have the following rights under data protection legislation in relation to your personal data:

What if I want to withdraw from the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience Participant Database?
If you want to withdraw, please email sam.gilbert@ucl.ac.uk. If you withdraw, we will delete all personal data held in the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience Participant Database (name / email etc). This means that you will not be contacted for future studies.
